Does scientific evidence conclude that the universe was a random creation or does it hint to intelligent design?

  1. It depends how you interpret the data. I personally believe in an intelligent designer based on the complexity of the universe, and also because of objections raised against natural means. That sounds vague, sure, but I don’t have the space to put down all of the support I want to. But I encourage you to read alot of books (the internet is not as much of a trustworthy source), investigate this thouroghly, and draw your own conclutions. Don’t let flashy books or PhDs influence you, but focus on the evidence. A book I read about intelligent design is “The Case for a Creator” by Lee Strobel. Good Luck!
PS: Hard Evidence?! Johngrobmyer, evolutionists claim that ID has holes, but if that’s the case, evolution is a veritable swiss cheese. I am open to other naturalist theories, but evolution has been debunked for a long time.

    Both!
No, I’m not trying to go “Forrest Gump” on you. However, I believe the underlying structure that allows random events to occur is in itself a highly ordered structure.

  3. The concept of “some things simply happen” can only be grasped by open minds, and is more than likely beyond the reach of the “because I was told it to be true”,people

  4. NONAME says:

Actually there is no scientific evidence how the earth was created. There is the evolution theory, but that is just a theory so it is not a scientific fact.

    Intelligent design…http://www.near-death.com/index.html

  6. I Seek says:

In as much as I was not around to see how everything came into being (and neither were you),I say, “I don’t know ….. YET!” To assume that some god, my less than intellectual ancestors made up, instantaneously farted the universe into being, is absurd

  7. iknowtru says:

You’re trying to compare science and religion. One is based on theories and facts, the other pure belief. The comparison is impossible.

  8. Gene says:

Creation is the work of the most intelligent of designers, God. Mankind just cannot undertand the mind of God, so scientific explanations are incapable of explaining the works of God.

  9. WC says:

    Random
PinkBabe: Look up the definition of Scientific Theory please. It isn’t just some off the wall babble. Evolution is based off hard evidence.

  10. johngrob says:

It has to be a deliberate event, in my opinion. Because, in order for it to be random, there must be different outcomes; but in this case there are only two: the universe is created or it isn’t. If it isn’t, then what’s the point? what else happened? So that leaves the one possibility. It has to be deliberate.

  11. sarge says:

what the heck? how can u have a random creation? and science tries to prove that the universe wasn’t created or designed. It tries to prove that the universe just happened, but there just isn’t enough evidence to prove that. The world was definetly created.

  12. I think scientific evidence hints to random.

  13. Consciou says:

I don’t think anything is ever really created. And I believe nature exists out of necessity. So my answer is neither.

  14. salient2 says:

    Intelligently random.

  15. ? says:

Started as a random event, then after many billions of years, got help from intelligent design. Now a bit of both.

  16. Tom B says:

To actually answer your question, Jabberwock is right, there is no way to know what happened before the Big Bang. Science cannot be used, at least at this point, to tell us what happened before the Big Bang because the laws of physics were non-existent at that point.

  17. The Wired says:

Intelligent design is the ultimate religious conceit. It says, in effect, “however you deduce the universe/world was created, i will assert that this was the mechanism god designed”. As science it is a non starter because it makes not predictions and is incapable of being tested. And as support for god it is a non starter because I could equally apply it to my idea that the universe was, in fact, created by a hyper intelligent shade of the colour pink. There is no way to distinguish which it supports – god or the colour pink – or any other random notion.
So now we have established that ID is, in fact, completely random, lets get to some real science.
The creation of the universe is rather hard to study because it happened rather a long time ago. It also was the result of a singularity, and the laws of physics cannot be traced through a singularity (by the way, not could the laws of god as put forth by ID). Stephen Hawking has suggested the introduction of imaginary time to overcome this. Imaginary time would allow a model to be constructed that consistently accounted for the creation of the universe within a single set of physical laws. This would preclude any possibility of god being involved.

    Intelligent design

  19. Webballs says:

I believe it was a the creation of the universe, a intelligent design, Hands down! A Mastermind (God) knew exactly what He was doing. Our entire Earth is awesome. That encludes the Earths beauty, the Animals, Space, We humans, ect. Everything works together for a purpose, and thats how we survive.
Scientist, try to make a theory that the Earth came from another type of Big Bang or Over Million & Million years, happened to envolve into what we have no. But they always come up with some explanations, that are missing, or a missing link.
Anyone who is smart, can tell our universe was created by a Supreme Being. Nothing just happened by chance. Chance always has problems, mistakes, in it. But over hundreds of years, we humans still exist, so does life, of plants and animals. We are fully taken care of. The Creater God who made us, knew of our needs for years and years to come. Yes, our universe was an Intelligent Design, by the Master Himself.

Physics starts right after the Big Bang. What went on before is undefined.
